Painting
The enjoyment of colour is significant. As I apply the colour a landscape evolves and challenges me to take that image through to a satisfying conclusion. Sometimes that happens easily; sometimes it challenges me for days.
I paint a variation of styles, impressionistic, decorative/naive and semi abstract and enjoy the discovery of new ways to paint.
Most paintings reflect aspects of countryside, images of hills and trees absorbed from the undulating landscape between Bendigo and Melbourne. Often from a distant height, from a birds-eye view, the presence of a bird in flight in many of my paintings is a sort of signature.
Born in Bendigo and trained as a primary teacher. My first painting exhibition was 1974 in Swan Hill.
