28. Libby Noblet

Screen Printing & Textiles

Having grown up in Quambatook amongst ornate wallpapered walls, linoleum floors and decorative bedspreads of the 70’s and 80’s. Each room in the Noblet home presented a variation in theme of pattern, colour palette and texture. It is little wonder that the interest in fabric design took over from her initial practise of drawing and painting.

Designing and screenprinting fabrics began after Fine art and teaching degrees, when she studied Studio Textile Design and Production at Melbourne Institute of Textiles, which is now RMIT. Following, teaching Textile Design and Printing at RMIT for 14 years Libby worked at developing her own studio practise in Bendigo 9 years ago.

Libby has been working in the back yard studio mainly on drawings, collages and screen printed fabric since then. Stylised designs often have a nostalgic undertone, referencing colour palettes of bygone decades. Libby’s back yard studio workshops have also proved popular since 2018.
