Sarah Hansford is a Bendigo based, self-taught figurative artist, having dropped out of art school in the early 2000s.

After dropping out, Sarah didn't pick up any art supplies again for 18 years, when she came across local artist Jane Ineson's Life Drawing group that was just about to start up. Since 2018,

Sarah has been a regular artist with this group, meeting weekly through school terms. Working primarily in charcoal, pastels, watercolour and graphite, on cartridge, kraft and watercolour paper, Sarah uses these materials to express feeling and movement which is the driving force behind her work.

Sarah's work has often been described as strong and deliberate as is evident through the use of the darkest black charcoals and heavily granulating watercolours.
